PRODUCTION UPDATE #3: WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE ALSO COUNTS

Hi there,

Welcome to our third production update of August. We’re excited to tell you everything is going smoothly with our campaign.

As we speak, the artisans in our studio are working in some crucial details: They are lasting your shoes and attaching the soles and heels. Everything is going smoothly and we’re on track for delivery in November.

Today I’d like to talk to you about some hidden details which definitely add value to your footwear.

You may have heard the saying “you only get one to make a first impression.” And this is entirely true: Remember how you strived to look good for your first day at work? Or for the girl you wanted to awe...

First impressions do count. That’s why we do our best to live by these words. We like to take care of the appearance of our shoes so you have a WOW moment when you get them.

But we also have to stand by another school of thought: “What’s on the inside counts.”

What’s the point of a gorgeous-looking cake which tastes awful? And what about a beautiful-looking shoe which is living hell on the inside?

Believe me: You and your feet will be pleased to hear about some neat, invisible details in your footwear.

The inside of your shoes

The soles and heels of most of our dress shoes are made out of leather. For sneakers, we use a natural rubber sole. But what’s the real magic inside our heels and soles?

First, we insert a steel shank between the insole and outsole of your dress shoes. This acts as additional support for your heels so your shoes will be very comfortable when walking.

Actually, many climbing boots have a steel shank: They help climbers reduce the weight of the body when going through steep paths. They also make it easier to walk on uneven surfaces.

So just think how Frodo and Sam would have appreciated shoes with a steel shank on their way to Mordor! And imagine how regular walks to the office will be in your dress shoes with a steel shank.

Secondly, we attach our leather stacked heels with five brass nails. They will give you a very sturdy heel and additional support for your feet. This also makes your heels practically unbreakable so you can be sure this is a shoe built to last.

Finally, we attach the soles through a Blake stitching method. This will give you a very durable shoe. Still, it is easy to break-in so your feet won’t suffer.

Indeed, appearance means a lot to us, but it is definitely not worth having a spectacular-looking shoe that will kill your feet.

Even if not visible, there are small details inside your shoe which truly matter and are made for your extra comfort and health.
