I'm happy to let you know today that all the shoes, boots, and sneakers are nearing completion and you'll have them on your feet very soon!
Since my last update, our artisans have been working hard to craft each shoe and ensure they're looking great.
Here's a quick run-down on what we've been up to: After all the leather was cut and stitched, the upers were wrapped around a mold called a last. The bottom is then tacked to the mold and the leather is heated. After they have cooled down, the leather will retain its shape.
Mass-produced shoes normally stay on the last for just a few hours whereas we keep them on for a couple days. This takes more time but makes a big difference in the structural integrity of the shoe, as well as comfort over time. Here are some Dean Oxfords at our factory on their lasts:
After the shoes had time to take shape, the lasts were removed and we stitched the soles to the uppers. This is done by using the Blake stitch method. Here is a shoe having its sole stitched on:
Most of the shoes from the campaign now have soles and heel stacks attached and are now moving on to getting their finishing touches. This means checking for any flaws in material or craftsmanship before giving the leather a good shine with high quality creams and polishes. The creams we use are a gardenia and shea butter blend, applied with a sponge before using a natural carnauba wax to seal the pores using a wool brush at very high RPM.
In this short video, you can see a pair of Oxfords that have been completely finished getting a final brush:
Our artisans will then box them up to be sent out to our warehouse in Miami and then we'll ship them to you.
We're planning to send all dress shoes and boots out very soon so you can expect your tracking number via email or Messenger by the end of next week.
If you ordered either the Domingo duffel bag or Archer briefcase, they are currently being sent out of our warehouse so keep an eye out for your tracking number in the next couple days.
Alba sneakers will follow shortly after and will be shipping from Portugal to our warehouse next week. That means you can expect your tracking number during the week of the 16th.
