I’m happy to welcome you into the second update of our July campaign. I’m sure you’re excited to hear about your products, so let me tell you how things are going around here.
All the leather has been selected by the artisans, and now they’re cutting and stitching all pieces by hand. During this time linings are cut and attached to uppers.
So why are linings important? Let me tell you about it.
Love your feet
We might not notice as we’re all engaged with our busy lives, but feet do more for us than we can imagine. 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles and joints put up with our weight every day.
The average person takes about 5,000 steps per day, which is about 2.5 miles. Our feet don’t only take us everywhere, but help us with balance and sensations.
The many nerve endings in our feet are what help with our proprioception. This is our sixth sense or the perception of our body in space. This is what helps us not to fall if there’s an uneven floor, or perceive the inclination on stairs.
As you can see, feet work very hard for us, and that’s why they deserve proper treatment on our part.
In fact, our feet are very prone to different diseases due to the hard work they do. But also because they stay too long in shoes. So how can we help and avoid any illness? The answer in our case is vachetta leather linings.
For us, it is not only important to give you a good-looking shoe, but also one that cares about your feet.
Our vachetta linings provide a lot of benefits. For one, they will make the inside of your shoe very comfortable, soft and padded. They will also help with the lifespan of your shoes.
Additionally, leather is a breathable material so your feet will be able to breathe in our footwear. Leather linings will also absorb any moisture and they will regulate your feet temperature, so this is something that will make your feet happy.
Now, in the case of other types of linings, such as polyester or polyurethane, you will create the perfect recipe for disaster.
These sort of materials are not breathable and won’t absorb any moisture. And we all know what happens when your feet are trapped in damp, hot and dark shoes. All sorts of creatures and smells will start to come out of your feet.
This is something that will be minimized with the use of vachetta leather linings. We cover the whole inside of the shoe with leather linings. When possible, we make our linings from wholecut pieces or with a minimum number of joints.
Once you receive your shoes, we invite you to take a look inside them! You will notice there’s a furry patch on the part of the heel, while the rest of the lining is smooth leather. You can see this in the following picture:
We actually do this on purpose. We use a suede patch for the heels to create a better grip, and this will help prevent heel slippage.
These might be subtle things. Yet, they make a big difference when it comes to creating your shoes. Along with uppers, heels and leather soles, we make them a coherent unit to help your feet.
I hope you have enjoyed this update and we will keep in touch very soon.
